Q.
How can I apply to MENSA?
I've taken quite a few online IQ tests, but never one administered by a psychologist. I've taken some valid ones online though, and one offered me membership to the International high IQ society. I'd LIKE to try for MENSA, how do I do this? Harold...touche, good point..however, you might also be interested to know, that a many times, the higher the intelligence the more eccentric the person. When you start to think on a higher plane, things that are "common sense" aren't so "common" to people with an elite IQ. You know, it's interesting that many of these answers ... Q.
Are the SAT and ACT antisemitic? The College Board won't give me answers!?
The SAT and ACT are administered on both Saturday and Sunday. The extremely vast majority of students take the tests on Saturdays. An extremely small minority of students, those who are observant Jews (as well as some 7th day adventists and other religions), take the test on Sunday because of religious restrictions. Yes, it is wonderful that the USA gives Jews such an opportunity. However, it quite possibly puts the religious Jews at a disadvantage. You see, the SAT is graded on a scale. When the pool of test-takers does better, the tests are graded more harshly. Though I don't ... (Asked by chronic-what-cles of narnia)

Get with the real world! They do not grade the test based on the "pool" of people that you take the test with. The tests are graded based on the scores from the past years. It is also silly to think that "religious Jews", also known as Orthodox or Conservative, are all in prep schools. That may be true for your school, but not all Jews are rich. You are feeding the stereotype. It is not well "knowen" that all in the American-Jewish world stress academic success and ambition. I have lived in several states throughout my ...(Answered by jpbofohio)

What is the hardest test or examination administered in the US?
Admissions exams, bar exams, government exams etc. I am interested in any objective measure of what the most challenging standardized exams are, not just based on pass rate, but based on intangibles as well, such as the overall qualifications required to take the exam, the potential stakes etc. ... The MCAT wasn't hard, it was just really long and arduous. I took it twice and scored in the 85th percentile both times (score expires fast!). The NY Bar Exam sounds far more painful. Any test that takes several days and involves case files and multiple handwritten essays has gotta be tougher than the MCAT. But I think the collected USMLE exams, Steps 1 through 3 PLUS CLINICAL have got to be the worst. If it wasn't hard enough to pass, it also costs thousands of dollars just to take!!!...(Answered by Gumdrop Girl)

PSAT/SAT Scores?
I took the PSAT twice (one was administered by the Princeton Review). On the Princeton Review PSAT, I got a 75 on the math (out of 80). Then, on the actual PSAT, I got a 76. Then, when I took the SAT administered by the Princeton Review, I got a miserable 650 on the math portion of the exam!! What could have accounted for this huge discrepancy?? Does the PR just make its tests harder so people will take their study courses, or is the SAT just harder than the PSAT?? ... (Asked by rags)

What is the validity and reliability of the following test?
If I take a multiple choice test that has 30 questions with four possible choices as answers, and I need to answer 6 questions correctly to pass, what are the chances of my passing if I guess at all the answers? Sounds like it is pretty hard to fail that test. Realistically you have a good chance of selecting the minimum six correct answers randomly out of 30. And as far as the stats for a group of one hundred student, I am no statistician so I will leave that to someone else. I will say, given the low passing requirements, the test cannot be too valid. But I do not know what the test is for, and why it is being given, so I can't really be the judge of that...can I? Sounds to me ...(Answered by konstipashen)

A.
I don't think you could actually create a standardized scale that independently measures something so non-standardized as creative intelligence. This would certainly require some degree of subjectivity in the rating, which would call into question whether or not the test is valid (meaning that it measures what it purports to measure) and reliable (yielding consistent results with the same or similar test group.) If there IS such a test in existence, I would love to see your creative intelligence compared with that of some of the very successful artists who have cognitive and other developmental disabilities. ...(Answered by simonlaurel)
