| Improving our school system with this type of device IS practical. In the midst of a crisis, take off your ring. It's as simple as that. Students carry their own phones. They can also carry, and learn how to properly use, a little magical button. If this country's system evolves in such a way as to provide defensibility of this nature, then we will have become less complacent toward those who threaten us. It is not unreasonable to suggest that what occurred today was in reality an act of war. There are many who despise our less prudent policies, particularly excessivism. ...(Answered by aserotiu) | |

| you guys are close. An alarm assignment is different in every Fire Department. What you get at each alarm depends on your Fire Department and how much apparatus they have. By calling for a higher alarm, you're getting more apparatus, and more manpower. It doesn't have to be 3 trucks for 3 Alarms. For example, if you've got a Engine and a Ladder Truck on scene and drop a 2nd alarm, you might get an additional Engine and a Chief. It all depends on what the ageny's SOP's are....(Answered by The Professor) | |

| I agree with BK. It will be hard to give you related links without knowing where you are located. If you are in the United States, the design will be based on several sources. First will be the building and fire code for your area. Most likely, this will be the state building code. I am in Ohio. In Ohio, this would be the 2006 Ohio Building Code, which is based on the International Code Council's Building Code. This code, like many others, including the older BOCA code, will refer you to NFPA 72, the ...(Answered by todvango) | |

| Assuming you are coming from a background with no experience then you will simply have to apply to alarm companies for a start - this will probably mean a pretty low paid apprenticeship. If you have any experience with electrical/electronics you may be able to start further up but if you are really set on getting into it then you will have to take what you get. Hope this helps...(Answered by solo) | |

| I'm sure there are products out there for deaf people. I would imagine that they have flashing lights instead of or along with alarms. I would check with Radio Shack if you can, or get someone else to call them and ask about it. They are pretty helpful and knowledgeable. I got my home alarm there, pretty cool!...(Answered by merlin_steele) | |
