I live in Central Florida and the current going rate for all science and mathematics Assistant / Junior Professors in the area starts at around 60K and goes up from there depending the the school. Obviously, most private schools offer a higher salary than public universities due to available funding for teachers. I've also noticed in my area that the 4-year universities offer an average of 10-15K more than do 2-year / community colleges. I am currently not working, but at my last teaching job, I was making right around 74K. Hope this helps!...(Answered by jsb8t)

teacher assistant at the college level?
I work at a research university and notice the Profs hire their grad students as teacher assistants. How would I go about finding those type of jobs - someone who would check the papers for the profs? ... (Asked by wright_0048)

For the most part, the system is set up so that grad. students earn some of their stipend by "TAing" a specified amount. I think you will have a hard time finding a university or even a professor who wants to work outside this system. (Grad. students are a dime a dozen.)...(Answered by metatron)

Physician assistant schools want you to have health care experience. How can I get hands on experience?
I have looked on many volunteering sites and they offer opportunities, but not hands on experience. I have tried to look for internships, and I can't find any available. This question is specifically for students who are in a physician assistant program. How did you fulfill the requirement of 150+ hours of healthcare experience in order for admission into physician assistant school. Depends on where you got your education and what classes you took, if you have an associates degree in medical assisting from a program only similar classes will get transferred, if you got it from a regular college it will be the same thing. Mainly your general ed and some science classes. I am gonna do the same so i looked into it. Also some programs require hands on experiece hours in the medical field, which you will have an advantage of already since you are a medical assistant. good luck =O} http://www.collegegrad.com/careers/proft81.shtml that website can help...(Answered by Gemma G)

I, too, am a Medical Assistant just out of college. Both my mother and grandmother are RN's, and I have 2 aunts who are LPN's. I continuously get asked why I did not choose to be a nurse. Although I have thought about going back to school and becoming an LPN, (it usually only takes a little over a year) I have heard so many horror stories about how nurses are overworked and underpaid for what they do. Not only that, but my mother, the RN, sustained life-threatening injuries from chemical exposure at her workplace, so naturally that gives me a ...(Answered by mariedoors)

I've been in the medical profession for well over 25 years. So consider this: is there a need in your area for medical assistants? If the work field is flooded, then the pay will go down, if there any jobs available. My best advice that I could tell you is to stay in school, but don't settle for just an Associate's Degree. Go full steam and get your Bachlor's Degree. I assure you it'll come in handy eventually, and you'll make more money in the long run. Do it now while you're young, ...(Answered by <cajunrescuemedic>)

If you have a family and NEED to make money, then I would say go for the Medical Assistant program and work toward RN. The thing is, many hospitals have programs set up that once you have worked for them for a year, they will pay for some of your college as long as it is in the medical field and can benefit them. That may be something to look into. As far as being a Medical Assistant, it can be pretty exciting, depending on where you work. It's always good to start there because you will know ...(Answered by goozeblahblah)
