Where should I study abroad in the UK? I frequent the UK often, as my daddy is from there, but uh I don't know much about the unis. I currently study at UC Berkeley and we have study abroad programs with Cambridge Uni during the summer, Warwick, Durham, St. Andrews, Edinburgh, Bristol, etc. I know these are all good unis but I'm wondering which has the most urban, fun environment. So..which would you recommend for a girl who loves cosmopolitan areas and adventure? ... (Asked by Wanker) |

| Cambridge is a good University and from what I hear it is almost as the same of way of life as it is of Berkeley. I'm not far from you now in terms of school, Saint Mary's College and we have a program at Oxford. And according to my dad, who is also English, Cambridge is almost the equivalent of Berkeley. Happy studies in England whatever you decide to do, its an awesome opportunity....(Answered by zigspc2002) | |

University of California Berkeley or standford for Summer session? Im a Chinese-Filipino student based in the Philippines. I intend to study in University of California-Berkeley or Stanford for the 2007 summer session. I would love to experience education in America, and for personal growth. PLease give some insights about this idea. And also, please tell me what should i have or do to have a higher chance in getting in the summer sessions. Since they dont have a required GPA, how would they assess students for them to be admitted? note: I speak English fluently. My parents are capable of sending me to a good university. I'm a 3rd ... | Stanford and Berkeley will provide you very different educational experiences. The student body at Stanford is smaller, and students get more hand-holding. Berkeley is more rough-and-tumble, leaving students to handle many things (like getting into crowded classes) on their own. One can gain valuable life skills from navigating Berkeley, but some find it an unwanted additional layer to their education. The physical settings for Stanford and Berkeley are also very different. The Stanford campus is rich in activities, but fairly isolated. When you venture off the campus, you're in the suburban peninsula city of Palo Alto, and it's a bit of ...(Answered by violet) | |

| Medicine's only available as a graduate degree program in the US. You'll have to do a first (bachelor's) degree in another subject, such as chemistry or biological science, before you can apply. Some universities have a "premed" course, which is meant to prepare you for medical school. After you finish your first degree you can apply for your medical course. You will probably need to take the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT - www.aamc.org/students/mcat/start.htm), and of course complete the app form from berkeley....(Answered by Justin) | |

| There are some very good uni's in your list there and all have good points including locality. I studied through Essex who have a good reputation and you are close to London by train. Its depends on your grade and tariff band but if you go to this address below, they have the University table and has history listed and from there you can use your grade etc and then compare for success and price. | If you can live on campus, it's cheaper. HOWEVER, it is difficult to get a campus dorm room or apartment. Dorms are only guaranteed for fall-admit freshmen. Everyone else pretty much fends for themselves. I lived in an apartment. My rent was $1000/mo (I have wealthy parents). Socially, there's little difference between living on or off campus. It's only if you live with your parents that it becomes a damper on your social life....(Answered by Gumdrop Girl) | |
