My teachers are my heroes~ care to know why? When I was in elementary school, I was fortunate to have excellent teachers who taught me how to read, (and I love to read) and proper hygiene & manners. I had music teachers from 2nd through 8th grade who taught me to love music & how to sing, (I have a broad interest in music). In 7th grade my geography teacher, who was also a mountain climber and explorer, instilled in me a love for the outdoors and nature (I love to mountain hike). | I can only judge the tertiary education system, as I am a professor and have studied at two American universities, a Canadian one, a British one, and a German one, and taught at a German one, two British ones, and one in New Zealand. The weaknesses I have seen are that academic staff get low pay and have low esteem and prestige, which attracts not so fabulous people to teach (good people tend to go into industry instead, it seems to me). Consequentially, especially bachelor level education seems unprofessional and trivial on the academic and industry-relevant skills level, especially compared to ...(Answered by Tahini Raving Weirdo)

Then, those very same children bring that attitude of "I don't have to listen to you" into the classroom, backed by an absentee parent who is trying to gain favor with the child who supports the idea that "you don't have to listen to that woman (man)." I have also ...(Answered by Sherry K)
