Teach it as part of your "circle time." Start with the day of the week... there are lots of different songs that teach the days of the week. Then ask them if they know what month it is... make sure you take notice when the month changes. There are even some songs that sing the months of the year. Then count up to what day it is. Then if you want, state the year. Then have them put the whole thing together. They'll probably need help at first, but if you make it routine before you know it they'll be ...(Answered by j_mo83)

Q.
What is school board approved?
I am currently studying to become a teacher (Pre-K through 12th Grade) and to prepare for my future career I have started to put together a box of ideas in which I store…well, my ideas as they concern my future class. Since it is now the holiday season (or that time of year in which calendar holidays run back to back) I have been thinking that for each holiday I would have my students do a major social studies/history project. For example: During the month of October a student could dress up as a witch and give a report about the Salem ... (Asked by moonguardianluna)

Q.
Is ther a website that lists the yearly calendar for all municipal school systems in the US.?
I know it's a "long shot", but I am having trouble finding them indivually by searching for each and every school system's yearly calendar. Is there a place that lists them ALL in one spot? I own a cabin rental business and I need to time my advertising campaigns around school holidays (since we cater mostly to families). I have about 50 different websites for our school systems yearly calendar and that's only for Georgia! I'm just hoping that somewhere there's a spot where they are all posted. Probably a lost cause though......... sigh* ... (Asked by Your Greasy Granny)

No. Our district 'bargains' its calendar with the teachers union every year, so we don't have the exact dates. Each state tends to cluster their start dates/end dates/and holidays, but that's about it. I can tell you central IN--but its never exactly the same in any two districts, even those just across the street from one another! start date: between Aug. 10 and Aug 20 holidays; Labor day, fall break (most schools around 25 Oct), Thanksgiving 2 days, winter break two weeks (dec. 17-jan 6 or so) MLK, presidents day, spring break (1 week, in central IN, whatever week has ...(Answered by frauholzer)

A.
July is named after Julius Caesar and gave it 31 days. It was originally the fifth month of the year. Per Wikipedia.org: "July was renamed for Julius Caesar, who was born in that month. Previously, it was called Quintilis in Latin, since it was the fifth month in the Roman calendar which started in March. Because of its origin, until the 18th century this month's name was pronounced the same way as the name "Julie"." Augustus took a day from February so August was the same length as July. Per Wikipedia.org: "August was named in honor of Augustus. ...(Answered by Petcreatures78)

Q.
I am a teacher. Should I ask for the number of days I am expected to work to be included in my contract?
I just found out that as per our new school calendar and new staff handbook, I am losing 5 holiday/vacation days, 2 personal days and 1 professional day compared to last school year. Do you think that this is just how the cookie crumbles and I should just deal with it or should a school include in their teachers' contracts the total number of days they are expected to work so that it could be reflected in the salary. Please spare me the nasty/rude comments on how teachers get so much time off already. My salary reflects how much time I ... (Asked by Oh, well!)
