| Caltech is by far a better school than Berkeley when it comes to science and engineering. But Caltech isn't for everyone. Lots of pranks and unless you are a science nerd, it may be a bit difficult to fit in. Good research opportunities....(Answered by Daniel T) | |

| Wow, you must be really smart and rich to be able to have this dream choice. After receiving education from IIT as well as US Univ, I feel that there is no comparison between the two systems. My honest opinion (and many confirmed report) is that IIT undergraduates are great because the selection process is rigrous and only the best are selected. Most of the famous faculties have retired/retiring and the level of research has really come down. Whereas reputed university like Caltech, there is a strong research emphasis and undergraduate teaching is taken much seriously. Since students are paying ...(Answered by sss) | |

Caltech, MIT, or other engineering? Hello. I am currently a freshman in high school, and would like to start working on my future. I know I still have a very long way to go, and things could change, but I would like some opinions. I live in the nicer suburbs of western Chicago, to give you a little bit of background info. I am in the highest classes in high school I can be in (all honors) and am getting A's in all of them. I am hoping/going to be taking the highest courses possible through out high school (AP, or honors when ap is ... (Asked by Panky1414) |

| Panky, Congratulations on your success so far. It's good for you to be thinking of these things ahead of time. I'm an aero engineer as well. The short answer is, that MIT is regarded as one of the best engineering schools in the world and has access to some of the best facilities. Your degree from there will be very well regarded, but you will earn it with sweat and tears. However, once you have graduated and ...(Answered by Kevin) | |

| Those schools are all well respected in that field, so I recommend that you go with the one that you feel best fits you. After all, if the school fits well, you'll likely do well there, and that will certainly help your employment/grad school prospects after you graduate. Cal Tech is a well respected school in this field. It may rank a bit below Carnegie Mellon, but not by all that far....(Answered by RoaringMice) | |

| Awww, it never gets that cold in Southern CA. Die hard surfers will just go in a full wetsuit instead a half. I admit sun bathing in a bikini may be a bit too much though, but shorts and a t-shirt should still be ok. If it's sunny, even a bikini isn't out of the question in the winter though. Pasadena is FAR from the beach tho. It's in the San Gabriel Valley area. That area gets HOT in the summer. Smog likes to collect there too. My uncle lives there. Generally, a ...(Answered by Linkin) | |

| First of all, congratulations! Both are very prestigious schools. You really can't go wrong with either. I couldn't find rankings for undergrad programs, but Carnegie Mellon is often top ranked for their PhD program in Computer Science. I'd be inclined to go to Carnegie Mellon because many of those professors and grad students in that top ranked program may also be teaching the undergrads....(Answered by Linkin) | |

caltech/mit grad schools: is it as prestigious as the undergrad programs? regarding the undergrad, specifically caltech, i've heard that all caltech students end up learning as much physics as physics-majors from other schools, as much math as math-majors from other schools, and as much chem as chem-majors from other schools. are the caltech and mit grad schools equally prestigious? like if i go to another school for undergrad, like brown or something, and go to mit or caltech for grad school, will i still end up so "sharp" a scientist/engineer? :D ...
