First of all what is extreme? Lets look at just one aspect, the number of summits on a given peak to the number of deaths On the he same peak. So Everest is at about 9% Manaslu (Another 8000 meter peak) almost 22% K2 a well known dangerous mountain almost 27% Annapurna comes in at a whopping 41% That being said there is not a person who climbs any of these mountains that does not look at these numbers and say "That is an acceptable risk for me." A Parks and Recreation Major.. Theraputic Recreation also works... Try colleges out west like Prescott University.. that is a great school which will help build a major that fits you in your outdoors field.. Also think about the NOLS or Outwardbound courses.
