My 8 year old daughter has come home with the comment ......................... "Neater writing please Kylie!" My daughter has been quite distraught about this. I feel this is a very negative comment. Her writing was actually quite neat, the page looks messy, because she has used an eraser several times on each word, to correct it too make it look neater. I think the teacher could have commented in a positive fashion. e.g. Great effort, perhaps next time use a clean eraser. Can you think of any other very short positive comments the teacher could have made to encourage Kylie? ... (Asked by MDA 4170) |

| I would suggest that Kylie lessen her use of the eraser, since that was the problem. I do agree that the teacher should have been more understanding, since she should have seen that it wasn't Kylie's fault that the page was messy. "Kylie, your handwriting is really neat, but could you use the eraser less next time?" "Kylie, thank you for your effort, but please try not to use the eraser so much next time." Basically, I think Kylie should be thanked for her effort in making it look neat, except a reminder to try not to use the eraser that much. If she ...(Answered by Ariel) | |

Indiscriminate bullying of my niece, further comments? This comment is directed at the person who blames my sister for my niece's weight. My niece is going through puberty and is overweight, She actually eats less than her school peers so diet is not the issue. My sister is doing the utmost to tackle her daughter's predicament, and this is not helped by people who promote prejudice. I myself am friendly with overweight people and was friendly with chubby people at school. Comments such as who wants to be friends with an overweight person is downright evil. My sister wants her child ... (Asked by budgieconcern) |

| Take 2 apples together.. 1 red the other green They may look different on the outside but they're very much the same in the inside. Those people are so silly they only look on the outside of things. They cannot appreciate your niece for who she is. p.s. if those bullies were apples i bet they would be rotten on the inside....(Answered by 96~*) | |

Indiscriminate bullying of my niece? Further comments about bullying of her mother.? My niece is being bullied. See previous comments and answers. There is a person who is supposed to be giving advice but simultaneously is bullying my sister. I have already mentioned that she is doing her best to resolve the situation. Yet I am getting unhelpful comments from a person who wants to do a character assassination of her. I want answers about bullying, but not a continual assault on my sister's failings. I feel that such people are bullying her because she is already doing her best, yet in one reply a person three times ... (Asked by budgieconcern) |

| The first thing your sister needs to do is ignore these stupid comments that people are puitting on here. I have noticed that no matter what the question, some idiot will put a nasty comment to the asker attacking them for whatever reason. That is just something you need to accept when you are going to ask a wide audience for advise. There are so many varying opinions that you are always going to find people who disagrees with what you are saying. In regards to your niece's bullying, the best thing do, if the bullys are from school, is ...(Answered by willowbee) | |

| If you truly care about each other then it wouldn't matter whether you were in the same high school. What is important is that you both get a great education and keep in contact with each other. The feelings won't change for each other and that way you will know that you will both really be there for each other....(Answered by Sonbeam) | |

| Lignum vitae, the wood of life, also known as iron wood, is a very slow growing tree. It grows in the West Indes, Central America, northern South America, and the Florida Keys. The wood is dense, strong, and heavy, and is so loaded with resins that things made from it are self lubricating and almost impervious to water. It is so heavy that it sinks in water. It resists rot from insects and mositure. Lignum vitae has been used for ship construction, butcher blocks, bowling bslls, bearings for submarines, cabinets, clocks, engine parts, forensics, tools, ...(Answered by ) | |

| Both. They need to be taught in a way that they can understand because of their disability. In their "special education classes." They also need to be integrated with the other children without disabilities because kids today are like walking sponges. They absorb everything and can truly benefit and learn from children without disabilities. Children who are fortunate enough to be in "regular classrooms" in turn, learn that we are all different and that's the way it's always gonna be....(Answered by just curious) | |

Is my Spanish teacher doing the right thing??? Freshman in high school. I was interrupting her (occasionally) asking too many questions, and SOMETIMES commenting what she says. OK, I was once in Mardan special ed school, a school for kids with behavioral/social problems. I got out of it in 8th grade, and they gave me a special circumstance aide. I got rid of it in October, 9th grade. My teacher always suggested I have the aide back whenever I got in trouble. Is she right in requesting I have my aide back??? P.S. My behavior was an N and I was interrupting her (occasionally) asking too many questions, and ... (Asked by Alan S) |

| She can ask for the aide to come back if she feels you are too disruptive for her to teach the other students effectively. Part of being a good student is learning to listen without impulsively butting in. Teachers expect students to raise a hand and wait patiently to be called on. I'm sure that much of your problem is due to impusivity. Try to write down your questions and wait until she says she's ready to answer questions. Try as hard as you can not to interrupt. If you rein yourself in, your grades will improve, and you'll have ...(Answered by boogeywoogy) | |

| I use good and bad phrases- "pleasure to have in class", "disruption to others' learning", "absenteeism is a problem", "failed (or does well on) tests and quizzes", "Is not returning homework on a regular basis", "Does not participate(Is excellent during participation) in class", etc. I like to be specific about their positive and negative behaviors in class, so parents know where to start in a discussion. Also, a kid who is really trying, but just can't seem to grasp the concept, can get a little positive reinforcement....(Answered by barrwiese) | |
