We use a variety of materials, which I discuss with my daughter when I am choosing them. We look at samples, talk about what she'd like to learn and then give the material a try. For math - we used a combo of singapore math and EPGY thru 7th grade pre-algebra. We are now exploring various areas of problem solving before moving on to the algebra sequence. She is working in Challenge Math, listening to The Joy of Thinking, and working on AMC 8 practice exams. For LA- she is finishing her course from K12. Next ...(Answered by mom21gr8girl)

Q.
Which curriculum???
I am a non-denominational Christian in California. I attend a bible chapel, and many of the other mom’s there home school, so I have abundant resources as well as support at my church, but many of the moms use very different curriculums. I was wondering if any of you Christian home schooling moms/dads could recommend a Christian curriculum, and why you like it. I am aware that I should be aware of my child’s learning preference, and all that, but I really just want to know some good curriculums to check out, or any literature or websites ... There are many excellent (Christian and secular) curricula available. One look at the Rainbow Resource catalog will tell you that (over 1000 pages of homeschool stuff). A couple have already been mentioned, Alpha Omega (including Switched-On Schoolhouse), Bob Jones, A Beka, Rod & Staff. There's also Sonlight (good for first-timers, as it has everything laid out for you) and Veritas. Personally, we follow the classical model as laid out in books like The Well-Trained Mind, so we don't use a single source for our curriculum. I've also looked over books by Rebecca Rupp as well as Cathy Duffy's curriculum ...(Answered by homeschoolmom)

Check your state's laws at HSLDA. Some have approved curriculum lists (or else you have to get approval of your curriculum from the local school district), but many don't have this limitation, which allows you to choose whatever curriculum you desire. As long as they're both able to handle the work and are being challenged, I see no reason not to keep them both at the same level. I wish I could do that with my two, but, alas, they're 5 years apart!...(Answered by homeschoolmom)

What are some of the best prepackaged homeschool curriculums?
I know about Calvert, I heard about Robinson...what are some of the other well known Curriculums. I researching write now and am looking for a easy to follow program. I'm new at this and I don't want to waste time this year in putting a curriculum together while my daughter waits around. Maybe after a year of following a homeschool program and getting in to the groove of things, I can make my own for next year. What's your opinion? Have you heard of the Calvert Curriculum? What is it like? ... (Asked by down2earthsmiles)

Q.
Home school math curriculum. Help?
Home schooling Moms (and students), I need help. I am looking for a good math program. My sons are now 12 &14 (7th and 8th). For the last 2 years, we have been doing Math-U-See- the classic version. They don't want to do it again. So my first problem is that MUS doesn't seem to go in the same order as other curriculums (it actually makes more sense to me) so I don't know how to place them when we do decide on another curriculum. When they were in ps they used Saxon, and we tried it our first year ... (Asked by Psalm91)

After trying a number of math curriculum unsuccessfully (including Saxon and Abeka), someone recommended the "Key to...." Series to my family. So, that's what I used with my first two children. The kids loved them because they were very easy to understand and they could go at their own pace. I loved them because all they had to do was follow along in an easy to understand workbook (I rarely got involved), and they are very cheap. We have since been told that they are remedial and not very effective. I felt bad then, but both my kids liked math, ...(Answered by FamilyMember)

Q.
Where can I compare homeschool curriculums to choose the best one for my daughter?
In particular, I am looking for a preschool or kindergarten curriculum with religious emphasis. Suggestions or links are appreciated - the ones I've heard the most about so far are Before Five In A Row / Five In A Row and Weaver / Weaver Interlock. Check out FLVS.net it is Florida Virtual School and has real classes for students in homeschool programs or students in regular high school/middle school just looking for extra credits. I take eight classes with them online and then I go to my college campus to take three clases there through dual enrollment. FLVS is free to all florida residents. But if your not in Florida you can still take classes wih them. It is a great progam.
