Financial Aid & Wills of the Deceased? It's hard to believe, but I heard that you can be denied financial aid if the FAFSA people discover that you have a significant amount of money from a will. My aunt died a few years ago and left me $20,000 for college. What should I do with the money to help keep the financial aid people from taxing the money or simply denying me financial aid? ... | If the money is in your name only, you will need to report it as your asset on the FAFSA. If the money is in you and your parent's name or in your parent's name only, you will report it on the FAFSA as your parent's asset. If it is reported as a parental asset, none of it will be included in the EFC ...(Answered by Jdub) | |

Do I get college tuition reimbursment for being the daughter of a deceased veteren? Well, here's the problem: My father was a military veteren who passed away during 2002. My mother receives veteren annuity for being the wife of a deceased veteren. I started attending college during the fall of 2004. However, my scholarship ran out in the fall of 2005 and things had turned for the worse so my mother was forced to file for bankruptcy. As it is I cannot afford ... (Asked by Yvette W) |
