how can i reword this to make it shorter and make more sense? On May 12, 1932 the Lindbergh’s received devastating news. How about: On May 12, 1932 the Lindberghs received devastating news. Charles Jr. had been found in the woods nearly two miles from the home with a single bullet to the head. Even though the infant's body had been found, the person who pulled the trigger and killed Charles Jr. has not been indentified....(Answered by Katy B)

Please read this paragraph and tell me if the word pandemic is not properly used?
In lands infested with poverty, it can be very difficult to survive. In the short story Rashomon by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, the meaning concentrates on the consequences of extreme poverty. The city of Kyoto is devastated by this pandemic; consequently, dehumanization, distortion of the human spirit, and a lack of compassion are all burdened as messages about the consequences of extreme poverty. I used pandemic because that would be the 3rd time I used poverty. Does pandemic fit do you think? The word pandemic is used properly...I, personally would write it like this though to help remove the redundancy. The word extreme is over-used too. Sometimes when you are writing, it helps to be more concise. I changed a couple of words. Hope this helps. In lands infested with poverty, it can be very difficult to survive. I was devastated, how could this happen? How could I let this happen? Guilt. What a horrible, hideous word. I never thought emotions could hit you like a ton of bricks, but that claim is 100% true. She had always seemed so happy or so I thought. I stared, I couldn’t help it my eyes were glued on the multiple scabs and scars on her wrist and arm. I wanted to look away but I couldn’t. Ok. Well, you're on the right track. You need to work on your grammar. As is, you're pegging in the red in the check mark meter. Also, if you use too many metaphors or comparison type statements in one paragraph it gets muddy. Do a google on How to write fiction and you'll get tons of tips to help you along. The library also has lots of books to guide you through the stages of writing. Good story telling is a process that takes a bit of practice and starts with an outline. Keep writing.
