| Be careful that you don't push your child to learn reading before he/she is ready. There is much developmental research indicating that it really could be detrimental rather than helpful to your child. One of the things they really look for at my daughter's preschool when looking at reading or kindergarten readiness is the art easel (children standing). When they draw, if they are drawing in one place then moving their bodies (instead of their arm), they are still in a really young developmental place. Your child may still be at this stage. | Well, I watch a lot of documentaries on the A & E network, and their website offers a lot of their stuff on VHS & DVD. Better still, the same company that owns A & E also owns the History Channel, so all of their stuff is available there also and vice versa. www.historychannel.com...(Answered by dgindiansfan) | |

| Yaheeda.com has one good CD (most of them are in french) I think it's called somos amigos. It ways 3-8, but I don't let my middle schoolers see the case, and they enjoy the songs. Sing, Laugh, dance and eat Tacos is an oldie, but goodie Try teachersdiscovery.com, or google Applause Learning or Carlex. Both of those are sources for Spanish language teachers, and you should be able to find a large assortment....(Answered by frauholzer) | |

What really worthwhile stuff did I miss not having a TV these last 20 years? I have recently turned on to some very good stuff on DVD from The History Channel, and now I'm excited. What recommendations do you have about really quality informative stuff [National Geographic being the obvious example] I should look for on DVDs that was done for the better cable channels? What would you say is worth the price? (They ARE pricey, being multi-disk sets.) I was kinda hoping for specific recommendations; things you have seen and thought were well done. ... | That depends upon what you did with the time you might have spent watching TV. Before you rush out and purchase a bunch of DVD's, you might want to visit a media rental center and local library to see what is available. There have been numerous show that are worth the effort of watching, but still few that you might want to own and watch over and over again. Shopping search engine listings, once you know the names of some series will give you listings for both new and used DVD's, singly and in sets. You might also try topics ...(Answered by Richard) | |

| I think you could homeschool them and do well with it. You'd have to make sure to have English outlets for them and perhaps even set something up with another family if you feel your accent and lack of phonics understanding will get in the way of you teaching them reading. I would actually recommend that if legally possible, you teach them as much as you can in Romanian and French. This will benefit them so much in the long run. People will say that they need to master English because you are in the US, but there's nothing barring them ...(Answered by glurpy) | |
