Environmental Engineering Graduate College Decision - Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, or Virginia Tech? Dear friends, I am trying to decide by Friday which school to get my Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from. I have been accepted into Johns Hopkins University, UC Berkeley, and Virginia Tech. US News Rankings: Johns Hopkins is #3-5, Berkeley is consistently #2. Virginia Tech is # 11-13. I am currently attending VA Tech (since Aug 2006) but spent the past 2 semesters taking 38 credits of background engineering classes (Fluid Mechanics, etc.). Regardless of choice, I should graduate in May 2008. Relative Costs until graduation: Virginia Tech: $8,000. Johns Hopkins: $25,000. Berkeley: $55,000. Virginia Tech is ... (Asked by Natalie) |

| No it's not. It's an important area, but the real work is done by people w/ engineering degrees, or chmistry or biology. Your other choices are yours. I always recommend that people making this desicion "know thyself" first and foremost. Not only your skills, but your personality type, passions, aspirations, etc. Then do some first hand research on what those jobs will provide. Don't trust counsellors, and professors who have never worked in the field....(Answered by Iridium190) | |

Friends, what would you choose? Aerospace engineering or environmental engineering? I am studying in Arizona State University, currently majoring in aerospace engineering (2nd year), but the subject of environmental engineering really interests me. Because we really need to take care of our environment, but aerospace sounds really exciting. I am really good at math and physic, but suck at chemistry. I am afraid I won't do good in environmental engineering since lots of chemistry are involve. What do you guys think? Should I stick with aerospace or switch to environmental? What are the possible future in the two fields? ... (Asked by espms290) |

| The career development office in student services at ASU can advise you about job prospects, projected growth, and starting salaries in either profession, both for Arizona and nationally. They also can do some one-on-one work with you to help clarify whether aerospace or environmental is your preference. I could hazard some guesses here but there is so much I don't know about you--do you like indoor or outdoor, you suck as chem but how are you at biology, do you prefer group or individual work, etc.?--it would be awfully presumptuous of me to even think I was serving you right ...(Answered by TR) | |
