Texas has the TAKS test. The exit level is taken during spring of junior year. There are at least four chances to retake it if you fail, but if you don't pass all the sections (English, math, science, social studies), you don't get a diploma. As a teacher, I wish it was not quite such a big thing. There is a lot of pressure to teach kids how to pass the TAKS, so instead of teaching them all the skills they should really have, we end up teaching them tricks to answer specific types of questions and ignoring ...(Answered by DLM)

it really depends on what kind of high school you are attending. at certain schools, you dont even need to be studying for those test because they emphasis heavyly throughout the years. however, at some high schools (the not so great ones- by that i mean EXTREMELY POOR) you should review your basic algebra and geometry. and as for english, just review some simple grammar rules and read a few articles to speed up your reading. you should also be getting those booklet that tells you what's going to be on the tests from your school the week or so ...(Answered by so_cali)

If you graduate from the Florida school, and they don't have a test, then you won't need to retake anything. As long as you do everything you are supposed to from the school you are graduating from you'll be fine. Indiana has a h.s. exit exam called the G.Q.E....(Answered by IndyChic)

Q.
High school exit exams?
I am doing a paper on the high school exit exams and I wanted to know what regular education students who have taking the test think of the test. This part of the question is for disabled students. I also know that students that have a documented disibility are able to walk with their class (but with out a diploma), what do you think of this. For parents of disabled students AND regular education students who have or are going to take the exit exams: Do you think that this test is important and effective for HS students ... i'm being totally honest but i think the exit exam is extremely EASY! i think if californian students can't even pass that test, then i have some serious questions for them. 1. what did you do with your 4 years of high school? 2. how are you going to get a job without basic knowledge of math and english? i completely disagree with the guy above me. in fact, i think the test should be raised. i lived in other states and they have harder test every year (not just to graduate). although i have to say that the test is biased ...(Answered by water is poison)

Q.
Are high school exit exams a violation of the U.S. Constitution?
California passed a law requiring that before any senior graduates high school that they must have passed an exit exam that tests their knowledge of 8th grade math and 10th grade english. The graduating class of 2006 was the first class to be required to meet this standard. We saw an effort by a group of students represented by activist attorneys to sue in courts to block the requirement because it violated the students constitutional rights; namely the equal protections clause. I feel, as does all courts thus far, the test is valid and should ... (Asked by Cambion7)
