| In Things Fall Apart, the people of Umofia struggle with trying to hold on to their dying culture. As the whites came in, the younger people converted easily to Christianity. In present day Iraq and Israel, the same thing is happening. the world see them as "third world" countries so they aren't as "civilized" as the United States or the other superpowers in the world. so all of their traditions and cultures are being blown away by "democracy". i never even thought about it until i saw this question but its like the same exact situation....(Answered by Sexi_unique1) | |

| That's a tough assignment because Afghanistan and Iraq have not been rebuilt yet. Just discuss the rebuilding of the South and imagine how it could be applied to those countries. You might consider that the North did not want to rebuild the South but to continue to punish it instead. They actually took advantage of the weakened area. Look up "carpetbaggers" for more info....(Answered by notyou311) | |

| I like the analogy. See how profitable war can be? Back when Germany and Japan were rebuilt the same people received all the profits: contractors and those who showed themselves to be good 'patriots'. No different here. It's for the oil companies (revamping the oil fields to maximize the output), a new embassy, a few hospitals here and there, goo, buy by and large, Iraq will still be poor, just where we want them to ...(Answered by fred16) | |
