Does anyone know how to make the colored sand jars? I remember making this cool thing by pouring colored sand into a jar. I still have it actually. Anyway, I was wondering if colored sand was something you could get at like Walmart or something and also if there were any specific things I am forgetting regarding how to make the jars....do we have to glue the lids on, etc. ... | do it with bath salts and empty baby food jars. Saves time and money and then they can give them to their mommy to save or use. I do this for baby shower gifts then cut a small piece of cloth for the top and place a rubber band around it then a ribbon....(Answered by ga_kristy) | |

2 Year old class needs a science center? Okay, It was suggested to me to create a "science center" for my 2 year old class. I have a few ideas thus far, such as cutting milk jugs in half and planting things in them , then letting the kids take turns watering them everyday. Another idea I have is to fill some 2 liter bottles with water with different food colors and oil... AND to make a mock bug jar: letting the kids pick some leaves and twigs for me then tying some palstic bugs to fishing line and hot gluingthe lid shut. I also ... (Asked by ss_cope) |

| Anything that you use should be something that the children can explore first-hand and that have immediate reactions and changes. The plants might work, but the children's attention spans are so short, they will lose interest. Maybe, dirt with fake plants that they could "plant" into pots, while they are waiting for the plants to grow. However, you are thinking along the right lines with your activities. Full and Empty-Any ideas? I have to come up with an activity plan for preschoolers with the full/empty concept. I was going to fill jars with colored water (using food coloring) and talk about them, but I need to have something for them to do that's more hands on....any ideas? ... (Asked by followmyleader1) |
