I have attached a list of the cutoff age state by state. Your child has to turn 5 by a certain date, not 4. So, you really still have at least a year if not two years before your child will start Kindergarten....(Answered by martidom)

It depends on what state you are in. There are lots of non-profits that cater to preschools or ECE, but lots of times you will have to advertise their foundation at different events you have throughout the year. There are websites you can go to that will tell you of foundationsi in your state. Also, you should have a local non-profit org. that keeps track of these foundations... Throughout the USA, public school is free for children, from Kindergarden through grade twelve. Private schools are not funded with tax payer money and you must pay a lot to send a child to a private school. Kindergarten class cooking day recipes? without nuts!? Every Thursday parents are invited to cook with my daughters kindergarten class. I have been reluctant to participate due to the fact that one of her classmates is severely allergic to nuts. He has been sent to the hospital many times this year due to contact with nut.reactions. (I know this stage you are dealing with a little too well) Sepparation anxiety. But oh no, this was taken away from her once she began school. I would have them do a musical program and then hand out diplomas. At a preschool I taught at, the kindergarten did a musical montage of popular songs (sang along with a burned mix CD like R Kelly's "The World's Greatest"), and the pre-k sang traditional songs (we sang a rendition of "New York, New York" called "Goodbye Pre-K", "Herman the Worm", and "You are My Sunshine". Are preschool and kindergarten required before entering first grade? My friend was chatting with a new teacher and she told her that she had a kid in her first grade class that did not attend preschool nor kindergarten. When we go to art galleries my 8 year old son will look at a painting from all angles and make comments like, "I like how the artist makes the water sparkle with the reflection of the sunlight.
