| I have attached a list of the cutoff age state by state. Your child has to turn 5 by a certain date, not 4. So, you really still have at least a year if not two years before your child will start Kindergarten....(Answered by martidom) | |

| It depends on what state you are in. There are lots of non-profits that cater to preschools or ECE, but lots of times you will have to advertise their foundation at different events you have throughout the year. There are websites you can go to that will tell you of foundationsi in your state. Also, you should have a local non-profit org. that keeps track of these foundations... Try www. grants.com....(Answered by MissSubversive) | |

| Throughout the USA, public school is free for children, from Kindergarden through grade twelve. Private schools are not funded with tax payer money and you must pay a lot to send a child to a private school. Check out this web site to find information on public schools: http://www.fldoe.org/schoolmap/flash/regionalmap.asp?bhcp=1 I haven't a clue about private schools, they cost thousands per year....(Answered by mw) | |

Kindergarten class cooking day recipes? without nuts!? Every Thursday parents are invited to cook with my daughters kindergarten class. I have been reluctant to participate due to the fact that one of her classmates is severely allergic to nuts. He has been sent to the hospital many times this year due to contact with nut.reactions. They have asked that we do not even serve nuts or nut butter for breakfast before sending our children to school. We have even been asked to not use shampoo that might contain nut oils. I need easy recipes that 5 and 6 year olds can participate in. We have a full ... (Asked by Lauretta R) |

| English Muffin Pizza's are always a winner with kindergarten kids and they can put the pizzas together themselves (with supervision of course) All you need is English muffins, marinara sauce, shredded cheese, and pepperoni Have each of the children put a tablespoon of sauce on half an English muffin, sprinkle on a small amount of cheese and one or two slices of pepperoni. Put the English Muffins on a baking sheet and bake them in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 6 minutes....(Answered by dragonfly9151974) | |

Kindergarten question concerning my kid crying at school....Please help? *SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY* My daughter has been at kindergarten for a month now, and she's been doing great. Even her teacher only a week ago described her as a "love" to have in her class. Then all of a sudden, yesterday, my wife says the school called because our daughter had been crying non-stop for 45 minutes because her nose was stuffy (shes only had about 400 colds since she's born!) and my kid even told me later she felt there was "something wrong with her". So my wife took her home early yesterday. This morning, the school called AGAIN, to say ... (Asked by JusticeManEsq) |

| Think of it this way... Your daughter along with your family had a great summer. Going places, doing things and having fun. (I know this stage you are dealing with a little too well) Sepparation anxiety. But oh no, this was taken away from her once she began school. The first month is a feel for how school is to your daughter. She made new friends, she has a great teacher, etc... Keeping in mind that it takes children longer to adjust to change than adults, because they only see the "ME" picture. Your daughter ...(Answered by Garbot) | |

| I shake each child's hand and bend down to their level on the first day of school. I introduce myself as their teacher and welcome them to our classroom. I have found that parents and students like this. It can put some students more at ease with you, once you have formally met each child. This is better than the general introduction to the class. Then I would go into my morning schedule. Explain to the class what they are going to do during the day. Talk about school rules/expectations. Read a ...(Answered by Mulan) | |

Preschool/Kindergarten Graduation Ideas? I work as a Kindergarten teacher and this is my first year doing it. In May we are going to have a graduation for the preschool that I work in. This will be a one night program, and we have to have a graduation for 3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, and kindergarten. We must add a patriotic theme to the program. | I would have them do a musical program and then hand out diplomas. At a preschool I taught at, the kindergarten did a musical montage of popular songs (sang along with a burned mix CD like R Kelly's "The World's Greatest"), and the pre-k sang traditional songs (we sang a rendition of "New York, New York" called "Goodbye Pre-K", "Herman the Worm", and "You are My Sunshine". Then as each child was handed a diploma, they handed their mother a rose. We followed with a luncheon and cake. The kids were proud and the parents were ...(Answered by Maria) | |

Are preschool and kindergarten required before entering first grade? My friend was chatting with a new teacher and she told her that she had a kid in her first grade class that did not attend preschool nor kindergarten. She also stated that the kid did not know their last name and that preschool and kindergarten is not required. I have taken some child development classes and I could have sworn that one of my pro. said that preschool was now a requirement. My friend, a nursing major, did not believe me. I just told her that the requirements must be diff. in diff. cities. Someone just let me ... (Asked by Madmuspat) |

| I have tried to foster a love of art in my children since birth. When we go to art galleries my 8 year old son will look at a painting from all angles and make comments like, "I like how the artist makes the water sparkle with the reflection of the sunlight. It looks real." He will then try to duplicate or improve what he likes in his own creations. He has also used art to express his feelings of anger and frustration when his father and I split up.
