The three elements that magnitise are: Iron, Colbalt, Nickle. (Take a look at the periodic table, they are in a line next to each other: Fe Co Ni - "Feconi" is the way I memorize it. Steel, which is an alloy made primarily of Iron, can be made into a very strong magnet, too....(Answered by borscht)

The earth's magnetic field is always in flux. There are always variations and true magnetic north really neverf stays put. This magnetic variation comes from the molten metals (mostly iron) withing the earth's mantle. scientis cannot effectively gauge when these fluxuations will occur or their severity. Some scientist even think the poles may, at some point, switch their magnetic properties; thus, in essense, making North....South. the other stuff you're blathering on about makes absolutely no sense from my point of reference....(Answered by silverback487)

What was that time in History called when two ships vanished by testing electro magnetic forces? I always thought it was the manhatten project but I have it all wrong... something about two ships out to sea in atlantic ocean were testing top secret magnetic theory and one ended up vanishing and reappearing in pearl harbor... something or another, anyone know what this is? ... write on the permenant thing with a removable thing. Like if I wrote Meedo with Yellow Permenant Marker and I want to remove it I would write Meedo on it with a blue removable marker then erase it normally....(Answered by Meedo)

I will try to put this as simply as possible, given the amount of space we have here for this discussion. Just because you have a magnet that is in the shape of a sphere does not mean that the magnetic force (not field) is uniform in all directions. a presumptious statement. the magnetic force of the earth (which is not truly spherical and should be another topic of discussion) is created by induction at the core of the earth. regions of this core are hotter than other regions and cause movement in the magma creating a magnetic FIELD. because molten ...(Answered by smkwtrjck)
