Depends on your program. The SB version of the psychology (bio emphasis) at my University required Lower division Statistics, Calculus for Bio Sci majors 1 and 2 or Short Calcus 1 and 2. The AB version of the psychology major at my University only required 1 lower division Statistic. The minor in Sociology at my school didn't require any mathematics, but the major in Sociology required lower division Statistics, while the Sociology with Organizational Studies emphasis required one lower division Statistics and one upper division Statistics. Not that you're asking me, but I'd highly recommend against Sociology as a minor. You'll soon learn that ...(Answered by Alucard)

Major / Minor Question?
The advisors at the college I atend said that I could be a nursery manager, professional landscaper, and many other things lant related if I major in Ag. Business and minor in Horticulture. Can you name some more plant related jobs please? I am more interested in my minor than I am my major, but Horticulture is only offered as a minor at the college I wanted to attend so I am minoring in it. And a lot of the Ag Business classes compliment the Horticulture classes so they work well together. I got carried away typing all of that, sorry, ... (Asked by dollyfan)

Ornamental horticulture and design, as either interior or exterior landscaping, is a growing field! (No pun intended!) It's like architecture with plants! Think of the big atriums you see in malls, in the lobbies and courtyards of corporate and government buildings. This is all interior landscaping. In a career like this, you will get your hands dirty, you'll often have to carry huge trees and ornamentals in buckets, and you'll be working in many environments. While in school, you'll need to study plant diseases, and learn as much as you can about non-native plants as ...(Answered by Professor X)

Minor woes..help in the right direction...?
I will be graduating next year and transferring to a four year college to finish my degree in Psychology. However, I'm on the fence about minoring in Sociology or taking up a minor in Art. I like both of them and when I really start to think about it, Art seems to me the perfect choice to take up yet, I want to study the Nature vs. Nurture of human beings. Any suggestions on how I should go about this? I've talked to my counselor about it and he says there are fields in Psychology that involve Art. ... (Asked by Gemini23)

Q.
Taking summer classes for a minor versus interning at a company?
I am going into my third year of aeronautical engineering and am now considering minoring in business to be a little more marketable. It seems that I don't have enough room in my schedule for the minor unless I take summer classes next year. If I do this, I won't be able to get the experience I need through an intern that summer. What would a company rather see? A minor, or experience through an intern? ... (Asked by aurora)

A "minor" means nothing in today's world. If you want the business exposure, then after you graduate you can take graduate courses in that field to get a real credential that will have gravitas to your potential employers. Your experience as an intern is much more valuable as it gives you an actual reference in your field. It's expected in this day and age that a quality collegiate applicant has done an internship. Not having that will be a big red flag. Your minor, on the otherhand, won't even be noticed against the other candidates....(Answered by yellow_jellybeans_rock)

I think that you should prioritize what you want and go for the path that will be fastest that will help you reach your goals faster. Obviously, you need a Bachelor's degree before you get your Master's degree. What you can do is Double major in, let's say Physics and AerospaceEngineering and minor in Space Physics - this way, being a Physics major and a space physics minor will become complimentary - as opposed to majoring in both of them and getting too little in the Aerospace area (if you leave it as a minor). As for flight school, I ...(Answered by Arashikitty)

Nursing is a great profession. If you are all for helping people, can stand some blood and phlegm, and want to have a comfortable and decent pay, then nursing is all good. I think that I hear of more people choosing the medical field all the time. It seems like everyone I know is trying to be a nurse. Look at the rewards. And then being bi-lingual is a definite plus. With the Hispanic population on the rise, we need more people out there who can translate for us. You will get paid a ...(Answered by Godsown)

I guess the question is whether or not you think you'll be able to use the creative arts minor in what you choose to do in the future. If you go into marketting, the prospects for using such knowledge are good. However, if you go into something like business management, don't expect that minor to provide much value - unless you're in some form of business that relates to art....(Answered by Kevin)
