It is known as the politics of fear. If you make your political opponent feared in the eyes of the electorate they will not be voted for by the masses who don't fully understand what is going on. Darwin's theory of evolution hasn't been proven, in fact most evidence proves otherwise. A lot of scientists don't believe in evolution. There is no more evidence to support Darwin's theory of evolution today than there was when Darwin came up with the theory. I don't see how anyone could believe in evolution because there isn't enough evidence to support it. Vaguely, remembering back to my junior high school history class, I recall that some southerners objected to the constitution because the representation of states was divided according to population. The original drafts didn't count slaves as part of the population. The southern slave owners wanted their slaves counted as part of the population, so that they would have equal representation in the proposed government. The ratifiers of the constitution created a 3/5 compromise, in which five slaves counted for 3 people population-wise.
