Where can I find printer paper with a school theme border? I am student teaching and having to put together a portfolio and I need 8 1/2 x 11 printer paper with a school theme border such as crayons, pencils, apples, or anything else school related or cute. As a teacher of 8Th graders, what recommendations do you suggest to encourage students to "do" homework? As an 8th grade teacher, the most challenging situation is trying to get my students to understand the value of homework, and studying. They come to class without books, paper, pencils, homework or anything of value. They scream we give too much homework however; when I try to give "classwork" they never complete it. I never get to teach. It's always monitoring negative behavior, loud talking, late students, and students who just don't seem to care. What's worse - is many of the parents sign documents during the first of the year "promising" their input for homework, checking agendas, backpacks, ... (Asked by SINGER...)

Give them less homework and try to make it more fun. Give less paperwork and more interesting projects. Try to be more creative with it. I know kids can be very difficult to teach these days. Good luck!...(Answered by Caprice75)

Do you allow your students to sharpen pencils during class? My 6th graders were constantly sharpening pencils and the noise would distract people and they would also talk when they got up to sharpen the pencil. I took away all the sharpeners in the class and began putting pencil cups at each table with sharpened pencils in them. But sharpening all those pencils every day is wearing me out. I'm thinking about just getting them pens. Any other suggestions? ... (Asked by lisa84usa)

Retractable pencils are the best. It can be purchased cheap at any dollar store. By the way, when I was a 6th grader, I did not talk to sharpen a pencil. I'd put my foot down to the class and if anyone talks to sharpen a pencil, they would get detention....(Answered by Agent319.007)
