| One game we used to play in improv class (not sure how old your children are) is to create a story one word at a time. Each child says one word adding on to the story. For ex: Child 1: "The" Child 2 "Bear" Child 3 "was" and so on. It can get quite amusing and helps them develop their intuitive skills. Good luck!...(Answered by on_the_sp0t) | |

| Ask the person overseeing the detention if you can read a book instead. Unless you have a sever learning disability writing the same words multiple times will do little to help your education. Tell them that by reading a book, it can help your education, infinetly more than this pointless practice. After all, you go to school to learn, not waste time. As a past teacher, I would find it impossible to refute this argument if a student ever brought this point up to me....(Answered by Lostpupp) | |

How do you learn to write quicker? I write a bit slower than average speed but I can keep up in class. However, when we start to work under pressure, (ie. in an exam), there are people who write 3 or 4 times quicker. How do you learn to write quicker? Is there a certain way to practise or do you just keep writing? I don't want a shorthand or speed writing method as I only need to write quicker in exams. Is it quicker writing small or big letters? ... (Asked by Genius_not) |

| Practice writing very common words like 'the', 'and', 'is', etc. very quickly. Some people write slower because they hold their pens too tightly and use too much pressure on the paper. Try writing with a very light touch and a medium grip on the pen/pencil. Find a sentence or two to copy that contains all the letters of the alphabet. Use light pressure and a controllable grip. Time yourself by writing the sentence(s) over and over. Use different pressures, etc. See if you can find a comfortable level of control and speed. Hope this helps....(Answered by best bet) | |

| The best way to improve your speed is to work with numbers. Also, try to get your brain working as often as you can throughout the day. Try sloving maths problems, even very hard ones that you cant answer help because they get your brain going. Go onto google and search "mind bogglers" or "brain teasers" and by doing these you will exercise your brain. The more you do this the more efficeint your mind will become and you will be able to solve problems faster! GOOD LUCK in your new skoool!!...(Answered by i'm gay) | |

Helping a 7 year old to write quicker? Calling all you teachers out there!? My 7 year old is bright as a button but the teacher says that the volume of written work is extremely poor. Her writing is neat & she tries hard with spelling. I've tried to help her with pencil grips & different incentives but she is slow & complains of hand or arm ache after just a couple of lines. We've tried stretching exercises, not gripping the pencil too tightly but to no avail. I so want to help her as once she gets into the Junior school, I've been told she'll get left behind. Any suggestions would be great! ... (Asked by dog'n'2cats) |

| My youngest was also slow at writing, although what she did write was fine. We were advised that rather then making an issue of writing and turning her off it we should do other things to strengthen her hand muscles. We made thousands (well it seemed like that many!) home made necklaces and bracelets with her threading all the beads on, umpteen jigsaw puzzles, plus she learnt (ha ha) to play the piano! The result was that her hands became stronger and she had far better fine motor skills - which are needed for writing. We were ...(Answered by worriedmum) | |

| 22.Female, no children. I think rewards are good and can give a child movtivation, but I would expcet my kids to do there best so not all the time but yes everynow and then I would reward them. I think the reward is more motivating because it's something positive and doesn't teach your kid to be scared if they don't get good grades. Yes I would send a child to school where they did not have grades, I think it would take a lot of pressure of the kids and make them want to learn more....(Answered by dreamer) | |
