Q.
I quit and and was chicken to go back.?
Hi folks, Need some suggestions on something. I quit a school "not high school" because I had failed a exam and was too chicken to go back to the the school as I was to embarrsed to tell my teacher I had failed. So went and did some work for a year and now want to go back and redo the class. I dont have the balls to go face the teacher again, because I feel like a moron. I really want this course but like I said I dont have the guts to go face my failure. As stupid ... (Asked by Steven J)

While you may be embarrassed, the teacher probably wondered what had happened to you. Believe it or not, teachers do care about their students and want to see them succeed. If you go back into the class, the teacher would probably be very impressed and happy that you are giving it another shot and giving up. Register for the class, hold your head up high, and walk into that class as a proud student who is eager to continue trying to pass, even though you failed once... People fail, but they should never quit. If at first you don't succeed, ...(Answered by grnfairy)

Stick it out... I really wanted to quit my senior year. I was fed up with everything and everybody. It will just be harder for you in the long run if you do quit. Even if you do go to night school and/or get your G.E.D. Seriously, suck it up and finish. Think about the future, you'll just be making your life worse in the long run....(Answered by thebox)

I understand you are taking a biology course ? If you quit the course you have to leave the college ? At a certain level school and education just help you get where you want to go. You wouldnt study shoe repair if you wanted to become a car mechanic. right ? Ask yourself where do want to go ? I would suggest staying on the course for the following reasons, I did my A levels in 1984 - Jeez that is 23 years ago that makes me feel OLD ! I started with three A levels maths, physics and economics. After a ...(Answered by a foot in Tokyo)

Q.
quit school???
okay, before EVERYONE says "You shouldnt quit school." just read the whole story. Okay, I am a junior in high school. However, I am absent from school alot. I am constantly sick & I have been diagnosed with chronic depression. Since I am out so much my teachers jump all over me, which does not help my depression, even though I am on meds. I am a pretty good student, but the teachers and the other students makes me so depressed. I hate it there so much! I would like to sign out and get homeschooled or go and get my ... No smart remarks here. My son hated his school and had no interest in going. I figured I could lose him and he'd quit or try to find another way and work with him. We found North Texas Christian Academy and upon passing their test, he has a "High School Diploma" instead of quitting or getting a GED. He is now a year ahead of his class and about to start at ATT Tech School learning something he will truly enjoy. You might want to try this. As far as the depression, have your ...(Answered by Debbie)

Q.
what happens when you quit a job because of depression? Can you get it back?
I quit my job as a teacher due to expected bouts of depression. I went to a doctor. I was told by a rep that I had to quit since I was so new. I mean I didnt get formally diagnosed or treated. I didnt want to quit, but I felt it was my only option. I want to be a teacher again in the NYC Teaching Fellows. They said they dont reinstate anyone, however, this was unexpected and it is a illness. With treatment, I can improve. What are the chances that I can plead for my job back? ... When you quit a job for any reason, you don't usually have the option of getting it back just by asking. You will probably have to reapply to the position -- if it's still available -- and go through the whole interview process again. The only way this situation would have been different due to your depression would be if they had offered short-term disability. I'm not sure if this was offered, especially since you were new, but this option typically puts your position on hold while you are recovering/going through treatment. However, doing this for mental ...(Answered by maven)

Q.
Should I quit the school band?
I play the Trombone (the baritone during marching season) and a freshman in High School. I really enjoyed Marching Band this year and still do. The thing is that next year I will be taking Honor classes in addition to 2 AP courses as well. There is a huge stigma if you leave the band (ie everybody is gonna hate you forver if you quit, specially our band director, im not exagerating I am serious) All my classes will be academic with almost no "fun" electives execpt for Band but anyone who has been in Band knows that it is ... Well when you graduate high school, what will you remember, what your academic classes were like, or how much fun band was? I am now a senior who has been in band plus jazz band for the last four years. I have also done musicals and played in the orchestra. Also, while I was in band, our band went on a trip to Southern California and we marched at Disneyland. Our trip lasted for 4-5 days and it was the BEST trip I've ever been on! This year, we will be going to Canada for ...(Answered by ClearView)

If you are a independently motivated student, then homeschooling, or earning your diploma via online, would be fine. I know a lot of well-adjusted people that were home-schooled and are as successful (sometimes more so) than those that attended a regular high school. But this is something you should definitely discuss with your parents....(Answered by sjw81)

You can get your GED from a variety of sources. The local school district will have a list of the Adult Education programs in your local area. Many colleges also have GED programs. There are also Internet courses and mail order courses available. All will cost money. In Dorchester County Adult Education the cost was $50 for the pretest, then $50 for the GED test itself. Additionally if the pretest reflected a deficiency in knowledge, then there would be a $50 fee per course required. I am not sure of the distance learning costs ...(Answered by Jack C)
