FAFSA independent question?
I will soon be married and I will be able to be 'indepndent' on the FAFSA application. Once you're independent do you claim your spouse's income or just yours? If so, my fiance is in the army, what are the chances I will recieve free money for school? ( NOT LOANS). I've had many classmates receieve money after marrying but they never went into depth explaining anything to me. Help?
What's the income limit to get free money? I heard it was somewhere around $25,000 per family? Also, if I fill it out once we're marred then I'll be putting down ... (Asked by stephyrose87) |

Once you are actually married, you will need to list both you and your spouses income. Also, your household has increased to 2, so you need to indicate that as well. In order to find out how much money you will get (if any), you will need to find out what you EFC number is....you can use this website....http://finaid.org/calculators/finaidestimate.phtml
Also, you need to go on your school's website to find out what the Cost of Attendance number is. Once you get the COA number, subtract your EFC number....the number you then get is how much they think you "need." This will ...(Answered by iloveeeyore) |
