Q.
Home schooled/public schooled?
If people say that public schooled kids are influenced by their peers, wouldn't that mean home schoolers are influenced by their peers also? What’s the difference between a public schoolers socializing with peeps from school, and what’s the difference between a home schooler socializing with peeps from home school groups? Everyone is influenced by their peers, so why is it that a lot (not all) of people say that public schoolers are a bad influence to each other? And also, I hear a lot about colleges recruiting home schooled student’s right? But don't they recruit public/private schoolers to? Both are accepted into college’s ... (Asked by Sydney)

Yes, homeschooled kids are influenced by their peers. The point is that everybody is influenced by those around them and the more time you spend with a certain influence, the more likely you are to adopt whatever's going on. (Of course, then there's the issue of not necessarily being influenced but just having to grow up around all that.) This goes for adults, too. If you hang around negative people, you're more likely to become negative. Whereas adults have a choice in where they work and with whom they work, kids in school don't have a choice. Q.
Why do the same people persist in citing "lack of socialization" as a reason against home schooling, despite

It's sad, isn't it? It boils down to 2 things really: either an inability to learn or a bias so engrained that they won't listen to anything. The bias is built up by what is not true being spread around as truth. And there are all sorts of psychological and sociological reasons why that would happen. Of course, this particular medium doesn't help much--they can say what they want and walk away. Things could be dealt with more if people were speaking face-to-face....(Answered by glurpy)

Homeschoolers are being actively sought out by ivy league colleges and universities. I know homeschool graduates who have attended dozens and dozens of Community Colleges and private and state universities and done very well. Our experience was checking a checkbox "homeschool graduate." Yes, you graduate from homeschool! Each college will have their own set of requirements.
