Q.
Do you like my essay/Does it make sense to you?
Below. Don't steal it. please. i spent way too much time on it. Can you please tell me if it makes sense to you? Your impressions? Your likes/dislikes? Revision ideas? Thanks!! Ode to a Cantaloupe? Oh, that cantaloupe sitting on my mother’s plate, its golden entrails inviting me for a savory experience. Not. That thing lying on my mother’s yellow plate above our cracked wooden dining table keeps staring at me. A sphere of skin, plucked from the brawny armpits of a decaying reptile. Bleached and toughened from the vindictive rays created by Earth’s stove. Waiting for fuel, the sphere shakes while ... (Asked by surfblue)

Q.
5-year-old and Summer School?
My daughter completed Kindergarten and was recommended by her teacher that she go to summer school. She told me it was not mandatory, but she felt it would help her because she was slightly behind in her interaction skills with other kids. Her work had improved greatly, she just felt the continuation of learning over the summer would benefit her. I've never heard of summer school for kindergarten before, but I reluctantly signed her up because I didn't want her to really have needed it and not go. But all week it has been nothing but disaster. The ... (Asked by CRH)

i think you should pull her out. your daughter might become more shy or quiet because of what happened in her summer school. and i think that summer school will be useless for her. why not find other alternatives? like dance class or sports? she might also develop sportsmanship and teamwork in sports, and grace and poise in dance....(Answered by jellymocha)

Q.
How should I have reacted to this? ?
I’m writing because I need advice about my son, a 14-year-old. He came home from school yesterday with a slight limp, so I asked him what happened, thinking that he suffered an injury in gym or at practice. To the contrary, he told me (albeit reluctantly) that he had been hit in the balls. I asked what happened, he tried to dodge the question, I asked again, and finally he admitted that he had intentionally “grabbed” a girl's backside, and that she had kneed him. On one hand, I felt bad for him because he was in pain from the knee ... (Asked by Jessica)

I would want to be sure that he had told the true version of events and that he wasn't actually being bullied. Once it was clear that it was true about the girl kneeing him, I'd speak to him calmly but seriously and ask him why he acted that way towards the girl and make it clear that I didn't think its ok to act like that. You want to be authoritative without sounding aggressive and allow your son to explain himself. Don't be too heavy on him as lots of teenage boys act like that, usually to try ...(Answered by Katie B)

Q.
I'm afraid my child is the kid in her class the other kids don't like. Can someone give me some advice
My daughter Mia is in the second grade, and gets into trouble nearly everyday. I met with her teacher yesterday, who maintains while Mia is very smart (in the top 10% of the whole second grade in reading), her effort is lacking, and she can't get along with the other children. Some examples: she laughs at kids when they get hurt, she throws things at them, and argues frequently. There is a little "clique" of girls in her class, though Mia is not part of their inner circle, presumably because they don't like her. She ... (Asked by JulesAtWork)

Consider switching schools - maybe to a private school or a religious school. It seems like Mia may need a fresh start and/or some special needs. When I say special needs I don't mean that she is not smart... I mean because she IS smart. Sometimes intelligent children are bored in class, and sometimes they just have an entirely different mode of thinking. Maybe when she is around children who he can identify with she will feel like she can "fit in". I would think it would be better to have her in an entirely ...(Answered by trollunderthestairs)

GCSE English cousework help?
How's this as a beginning and does it make sence?? I peeped through the tiny hole between the bright red curtains. I felt as though my heart was going to burst out of my body. I stared at the innumerable faces in the crowd, all frantically cheering and waving banners with my name printed on them. All this, I thought, for an insignificant liar. I didn’t deserve this, my life was a lie and nobody knew who I really was. I had no choice but to lie again. I stepped forward and the curtains were opened. I put on a fake ... (Asked by Anime Fan)

Could be it was too short. I'm presuming his punctuation (capital letters etc) were better than yours, otherwise if he is in grammar school that would be enough for a detention.
