Do you have any suggestions on how to take the ACT test? I just recently found out that I have to take the ACT. In order to retain any scholarship I have to attain at least a 28. A 31 or over will possibly grant me a full ride, but I have just over one week to study for the test. Any advise on what to study, what not to study, how difficult it is, anything really, will be appreciated. ... (Asked by yiohon) |

AP World History? Being the mad person I am, I have decided to take the AP world history test without actually taking the class. (The class isn't offered at my school.) I have fairly strong writing skills and am currently acing my regular world history class (and applying no real effort, unfortunately). I'm also reading what I'm pretty sure is an AP world history textbook. At a chapter a day, I'll have it finished about a week and a half before the actual exam. My memory is pretty good, so I should retain most of what I read. If there is anything I ... (Asked by RedRay) |

Is the Princeton Review book good for studying for the APUSH exam? I only have 4 days to study!? I would study the Kaplan or REA book but they're way too big? Shouldn't I just stick with the Princeton Review since it's shorter? That way I could better retain the facts I learn in 4 days? ... (Asked by Bo J) |

| If you believe that the Kaplan and REA books are too big, then it sounds like the Princeton has to do. The reviews on amazon say that the book is helpful but mediocre. The practice tests are supposed to be realistic. Reviewers agree that the book won't help you get a 5, but will help if you are shooting for a 3 or 4. You may also want to skim through the cliff notes books on US History. Good luck....(Answered by recreating_eve) | |

| This is what worked for me . Before a test I would record my notes into a tape recorder to be played in my car on the way to class. Do not stay up late the night before the test ,just listen to your tape before you go to bed and feel confident that you will hear it all again in the morning. It all depends on taking good notes and looking for the important parts of the lesson because if you have more notes than needed you have to much to remember .In each paragraph there is probably only one ...(Answered by Cinna) | |

Why is it that kids are allowed to have more than 3 months of vacation a year? There not being educated properly. Their being promoted through the grade system without being required to learn the required material. I believe that all students (private and public) should be requuired to work the same amount at school, as adults do at their jobs. 50 weeks a year, 2 weeks vacation, plus about 10 days for the major holidays. Then maybe they will concentrate more on retaining what they learn. And if not, they should be held back. Even if they have to repeat the same grade 3 or 4 times in a row. If they still cant move forward ... (Asked by creskin) |

| I used to be a Kaplan tutor and instructor. Now I tutor students individually. It's been my experience that if your aptitude is "average+" and you want to score above a 700 you need about 30 hours of instruction and then about another 50-70 hours of studying on your own. This seems like a lot but to some of my students it has been a slam dunk way of scoring 700+. I would definitely start studying 3 months out. This means taking a class course or tutoring if you have the money. After the class is done I would recommend taking one practice ...(Answered by GMATgenius.com) | |
