A.
The French Revolution (1789-1799) was a period of major political and social change in the political history of France and Europe as a whole, during which the French governmental structure, previously an absolute monarchy with feudal privileges for the aristocracy and Catholic clergy, underwent radical change to forms based on Enlightenment ideals of democracy, citizenship, and inalienable rights. These changes were accompanied by violent turmoil, including mass executions and repression during the Reign of Terror, and warfare involving every other major European power. For the next 75 years, France would be governed as a republic, a dictatorship, a constitutional monarchy, and ...(Answered by Ahab)

Students have been using these resources for years, and some teachers cringed at the mention of them; however, consider introducing such aids as: Spark's Notes www.sparksnotes.com Cliff's Notes www.cliffsnotes.com Book Rags www.bookrags.com When I just checked, all have study guides for Homer's The Odyssey. Whatever works, right? Good luck.......(Answered by Teacher Man)

Q.
Yahoo answers in an indication as to why the world is only 50% efficient. Do you agree?
I think the popularity of yahoo answers, books for dummies, and wikipedia speaks in volumes about the need for more simplified and understandable references of information. How many times have we, at work or in school, read for 3 hours about some jargonish crap some scholar wrote only to have a friend sitting next to us helps us understand in 5 minutes. Authors are either too pretentious in wordiness or too used to their own manner of arcane jargon. There needs to be a science devoted to the study of efficient communication as there is none right now I know ... (Asked by Ilooklikemyavatar..exactly)

I don't really agree, actually. I do agree when you say that the collection "for Dummies" is really good. But it's good to explain things broadly. Usually, those books give the basics, and I think it's VERY good those books exist. But if you want to go deeper into a subject, you'll need the other books, those you find difficult to understand, because otherwise, you won't go farther than the basics. Ex: I bought "Philosophy for Dummies" because I wanted to read about philosophy and didn't know where to start. It's great so far. But I know I'll have to read ...(Answered by Offkey)

Instead of dividing, multiply the first fraction by the RECIPROCAL of the second. (Flip the second one over.) (7/12)(3/4) = (21/48) = (716) this gives the same result as dividing and is much easier....(Answered by cdf-rom)

Q.
I want to be able to answer more biology questions on Yahoo without having to do lots of research on the web.?
I often spend way too much time hunting down an answer on the web that I could probably find in five minutes if I had a reference book in front of me. I need some suggestions of paperback or used hard-back biology books that are detailed enough to answer simple-to-hard biology questions. Some frequently asked questions are on topics like photosythesis and different types of bacteria. I can handle rather technical literature so I don't want it TOO simplified. I was thinking of ordering a book from Amazon.com. I just don't know the books well enough ... (Asked by Marilyn B)

Has it ever ocurred to you to save your responses in a text file? Go back through your good answers for questions that get asked all the time, copy the text to a word processor and save it. The next time that question is asked, cut and paste, and fine tune the answer to fit the question exactly. No fuss, no muss, it's done. You can paste your links into the word processor, too. Of course, it's easier if you just compose your responses offline to begin with, and save the files with names that make them easier to retreive as ...(Answered by goicuon)
