What do teachers feel like doing if their class is being disruptive? I have taught preschool to high school.... I find you need more patience for the younger ones, cause they just don't get it. Older kids get it, but they don't care. Not much you can get angry at; it's their own stupidity. When I was teaching grade 6, I had a student who swore at the principal and at me over and over. It was abusive and degrading to take that crap. But we do it b/c we care. How will you react if the teacher continues on smacking your kids although after warning him 2 times? My son's teacher continues to smack my 8 yr old son. It's 2 times now that i've noticed marks of fingers on his cheeks. After warning him to stop smacking him, he continues. My son who was doing well in his studies and he has never missed school for even one day, now he's telling me he doesn't want to attend school. He is scared now. he has changed so much. Well, let's see. First of all I do not know of any school system in the United States that allows a teacher to smack a kid. Any type of physical discipline is illegal. If this were my child I would report this teacher ASAP before this teacher does any more harm to your child. Sounds like your son has already suffered psychological impact. Ok, it is illegal to hit a child in school. I assume the person is a teacher? If so, there should be other witnesses around. If not, was there any bruising on the child? If not, well, the hit couldn't have been that hard if it even happened. Does the person have a history of hitting? Does the accuser have a history of making up stories? Sorry I can't provide more info. You do have the right to be innocent until proven guilty, that is our system. The child needs to have actual proof that something occurred. What should I do if my child has a teacher that I don't like? I've worked in the school system in the past and am familiar with a teacher who I feel is mean to her students. I witnessed her smack her own son (in the mouth) for peeing his pants in first grade, and this teacher asked me to remove a child's books which were peed on because she didn't want to touch them. She has access to gloves as much as I do, but she was pregnant and used that to hide her ignorance to disease processes. I didn't request another teacher at the end of school last year ... I've seen it time and time again. People I thought would be dismal failures in the classroom because of MY reaction to their personalities, and then the students loved them. Since your school doesn't take requests, you probably can't do much anyway. I would be vigilant, but don't let on to your child how you feel about the teacher - act as if you don't know anything about her. Yes, I am appalled by the bad spelling, punctuation & grammer. Though we have to accept that many people using the forum don't have English as their first language. I think that the use of texting is ruining proper spelling. The Soaps on TV also often feature characters who can't string two sentences together corretly & dreadful accents. In schools now the emphasis seems to be on 'creative expression' rather than following the rules of correct English usage.
