buy some spelling game software... that should be a fun and learning experience... learning should be fun or else all its going to do is frustrate her... when she gets a little better with words then dump her onto books... no point of her reading teen books if she can't recognize enough words for her to appreciate the book... she's 13 so children books may discourage or insult her... also try buying her some teen magazines, girls love those......(Answered by sushi_squad)

A.
Think of self-teaching of a foreign language as the first step. You will never become fluent in it--although you may be able to develop some great reading skills--if you don't find someone to speak it with. Rosetta Stone is supposed to be the best for language learning, which is why it's the most expensive!...(Answered by glurpy)

A.
Yes, you can teach yourself those subjects if you can find good self-teaching books (check your library--they have lots on algebra and trig). How long it will take will depend on your skill level, your natural aptitude, how much you have to learn and how much time you are willing to spend each day studying. If you're talking a typical advanced algebra course but on your own, you should be able to do it in less than a semester....(Answered by glurpy)

Need your advice...what to teach a 6 + 7 year old?
Because of the way my daughters' birthdays fall, both of them will be going into first grade together this September. In addition to their public schooling, I would like to start teaching them some things at home over the Summer to prepare them. So far this is what I have: English - Letters of the alphabet and story time. (This is a very important subject as both of my girls are bilingual.) Math - Simple numbers, addition and subtraction. (They already know their numbers, this is just a brush-up subject.) Science - Learn about different animals and about the human body. Geography - I will be ... (Asked by lorelei.siren)

Some of my favorite websites for first grade are: http://www.internet4classrooms.com/skills_1st.htm which is a site that has all the first grade skills listed and I like to use it to make sure I'm covering the basics; and http://www.iknowthat.com/com/GradeLevel?GradeLevel=1 This site is free also although you do have to register so that your child's points and cards etc. are saved in their database. I esp. like their ...(Answered by Karen)
