| I agree with the first answer... a bit more information would let us help you better. Craft projects are always good. Something that's pre-cut and they just have to follow simple steps (product art). Or give them some materials (glitter, stickers, buttons, pieces of paper, etc) and let them create their own work of art (process art). Music activities are always fun. Jim Gill has great songs that are easy to put movements to. The Wiggles are always popular with the preschool age. Try some of these websites for preschool craft and music ideas......(Answered by j_mo83) | |

| How about Music and Movement classes? Children this young cannot be "taught" confidence, self-esteem etc. It is something that comes with time, and experience. But, you can easily provide her with experiences that will help build these things. Spend time with your neice. Have her help you in the kitchen, around the house. Giving kids special jobs to do, and praising them for their effors is a great way to boost self-esteem and confidence. Read with her, and ask questions about the book. For instance, ask her "How many bunnies are on this page?" or "What do you think will happen next?" These ...(Answered by pianogal73) | |

| Kids at this age (in my experience) really enjoy movement activities. I'd find a song about animals (on a CD or for you to sing) and have the kids move like animals. There's a song out there (I can't remember who does it) called Animal Action where it names animals and gives the kids the chance to move around like that animal. You can also do a Simon Says activity that is animal themed ("Simon says walk like a penguin") or have an animal race, where the kids race while moving like an animal (i.e. move from one side of ...(Answered by kara_wing) | |

| I'm not sure how much they pay their teachers but it is such a great program! I've seen so many preschool aged kids just light up when they hear the music. Also, it teaches music basics in a way that is appealing to young children instead of monotonous. Some of it will probably be repeat information if you're already a music teacher, but perhaps they could offer some different methods and techniques?...(Answered by kmatty) | |

| Ask several of the "parents" to be preschoolers with discipline problems. Do some role play about things that happen in preschools. Give them scripts to describe the behaviors. then you, the "teacher" can show ways to help resolve the problems. Also choose someone to be your aide. Some examples would be : Children fighting over a toy. (If I didn't see who had it first, I would put the toy in time-out.) It worked quite well, If I saw who had it first, I would give the toy to that child and try to get ...(Answered by Veronica) | |

What is the order kids learn color recognition in? I had a workshop years ago that stated kids learn colors (shapes, numbers, letters, etc) in a specific order. The speaker emphasized that certain skills or "steps" just aren't learned before the first ones are in place. By steps, I mean the ability to tell the difference between two colors held side by side, ability to name a color when asked, the ability to point to the color being named, etc. Can anyone help? ... | Hello Mom of 6 - Don't let people bother... I'm in MD, a preschool director and have taught lots of college classes and workshops etc. I find it a good idea to try to have the students play - sometimes I think adults forget the benefits of play - because we rarely do this ourselves. I always used this when doing trainings on open art (to compare open and product-oriented art). You could have small groups brainstorm and list on chart paper the benefits of play in different learning centers and share with the class. For one ...(Answered by Pat C) | |
