It is an idiom. I am sure you know what it means but as far as the origin, I would have to guess that it dates back to Christian values and the proverb “Do on to others as you would have them do on to you.” As such, the Ten Commandments can also be seen as a source....(Answered by yay)

Ah - perforated already implies that something has poked through something. So... My pen perforated my pocket. It is implied that the pen went through a hole in your pocket if you use the word perforated. You don't have to elaborate. If you say the pen perforated your pocket, it already means it went through the hole. Get it?...(Answered by free_your_fancy)

Because "Wrong" is spelled w-r-o-n-g, therefore it is spelled wrong (w-r-o-n-g). You could use the same joke for ANY word...it just wouldn't be as "funny." It's a lame joke to start with. ;)...(Answered by jcurrieii)

When he first falls (fell) in love with Daisy, he knew that his social status was standing in his path of success I think probably just that word falls is kind of out of time in the sentnce falls sound more of a now than remembering when he actually fell in love with Daisy.
